Transport your child to the world of Wonderland and pass on your love of literature by gifting them a historically accurate, mid-Victorian child's dress like Alice would have worn.  Made of quality fabrics, this investment will last through hours of reenactments, events, and creative play.  

Historically, children's clothing was made to accommodate growth, and this design has gathers, a drawstring, growth tucks, and extra waistband length to accommodate the developing child for two to three years.  It is based off extant designs and fashion plates.

ALL THE DETAILS

Dresses are made in standardized sizing; use the size chart to choose the correct size for your child.

The dress includes:

  • a round neckline gathered to a band
  • a drawstring in the neckline band
  • a waistband with extra length (button can be moved)
  • back bodice closure of two buttons - one at neck and one at waist
  • gathered, open sleeves
  • a skirt that is fully gathered all the way around
  • two or more growth tucks that can be let out as the child grows

Each dress is unique and some dresses come with outerwear or accessories.  Please read the listing graphics carefully and choose accordingly from the dropdown options.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

If you would like to add a chemise, drawers, and/or petticoat to your order, please find the Victorian Undergarments in the Children's Collection section and add the desired items to your cart.

Measure your child's chest, waist, and dress length according to the sizing graphic, then choose your child's size according to the sizing chart.  For the most accurate fit, please take the measurements snug to your child's body (or over any undergarments, such as a chemise, that you already own and plan to have them wear). The dress will have wearing ease in it, with at least 5" extra in the chest area and 2" extra in the waistband (which can be pulled in by moving the button or by tying on a sash).

The dress is hemmed by age according to the pictured 1868 graphic; however, if your child is shorter or taller than the measurement on the size chart, let us know in the comment box on the check out page, and we will lengthen/shorten the dress at no extra charge.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This will depend on the dress/outfit chosen.  A care card will be included with your order; dresses made with cotton, linen, or polyester fabrics can be machine washed.  If you choose a silk or wool fabric, it will be dry clean only.

All items are prewashed and preshrunk. Seller is not responsible for any allergic reactions to the detergent used in prewashing.

Items that have buttons on them come with an extra button sewn inside.

Very good product with a poor ap **UPDATED TWO YEARS LATER** Please read for useful troubleshooting
OK, it has been two years and I am updating my review. I am keeping the 5 stars because the vac is working as good now as it was when new. But it has not been without its ups and downs. After about a year, I began to notice it wasn't picking up nearly as good as it once did and I started looking for new vacs. I stumbled across a review for a completely different product. This reviewer, having the same problem, different product, had found a "hidden" filter deep inside his vac. So, one day when using my leaf blower outside, I decided to use it to blow out the q5. Dust went everywhere and I was amazed at how much the vac quieted down and began suction like new! Apparently I hadn't noticed the increase in noise as the vac labored against restricted flow. It was nothing short of a complete renewal. But, I began to have problems with the cliff sensors. It would falsely sense a cliff and refuse to vac that area. I noticed a buildup of dust INSIDE the cliff sensors. (apparently they are not airtight) With a can of compressed air, I was able to blow out the sensors and it straightened right up, again to like-new efficiency. I have integrated the practice of blowing compressed air into the sensors as well as EVERY crevice that dust could accumulate into my cleaning/emptying routine and now, two years after purchase, I get like-new performance from the q5. I would still recommend this, just be prepared for a still-clunky app that you WILL become accustomed to. Good Luck!! OK, so I'm giving this five stars because it is so much better than I had anticipated and I want people to read this review. The product itself IS five-star. The ap, maybe two. Keep in mind that I haven't had it too long and maybe with a little more experience, the ap might be more palatable. But here goes: I use this in a basement where the floors are mostly smooth concrete, with one room low-pile carpet. As long as you keep the vac emptied, it works great. I have a husky dog and his undercoat shedding is a disaster of epic proportions. It sucks up his hair like a champ on both surfaces. When it gets pretty full, it will dump dog hair and dust at the edge of every rug it passes over. But that's my fault. The robot seemingly wanders around like a drunk, and somehow it unerringly chases after the dog wherever he goes, but it knows what it's doing once it maps out the area. The problems come when you want it to do something different, like just clean one of the rooms. Most of the time, the selection on the ap to select just one room simply doesn't work. Sometimes it does, so I know I'm doing it right. You can install an "invisible wall" but so far it has been impossible for me to put in a HORIZONTAL wall, so I gave up. Putting in a "zone" has been more successful, but still a pain. The only thing in my areas that it will not clean are the door mats, made of very thin carpeting. Hair gets stuck in there and the vac simply can't suck or scrub it up. But that's minor. I can scrape the hair off with a shoe and the vac obligingly sucks it right up. Overall, this was good purchase and I can't imagine dealing with "Operation Fur Drop" without it.

Based on the price I wasn't expecting much but boy was I wrong. I'm so impressed and thrilled with this purchase. I have a long haired Maine Coon and it picked up so much fur. It picked up thread, small pieces of yarn and feathers from my pillows. I watched the long front brushes pull dust and dirt out from under spaces that my regular vacuum would never get without moving things. I have carpet, hardwood, throw rugs and even a long shag throw by my bed that it maneuvered over mostly easily. I helped it over one or two transitions but it never got stuck. Just turned and kept going. The mop worked great. Only concern is that it only uses water so it's not a deep clean but the pad was dirty and once it dried I threw it into the wash. With a cat shredding the carpet on a scratching post and all of his fur I was shocked how packed the dirt cup was and how great the house looked with all the little bits of scratching pole, oh yeah and card board scratching pad cleaned up so easily. I highly recommend. The cat thinks it's a cat toy so he kept starting it up. I had to cover it to protect it from the cat. It now lives under it's very own plastic bin. 🙂
